The Altenheim Communityhas a long tradition of providing older adults with lifestyle options that offer freedom, security, and opportunities to enjoy the many pleasures of life community living offers. Founded by two local churches, the Altenheim is the oldest not-for-profit, church related retirement community in Indianapolis. Today, residents represent many denominations and the Community is a homogenous blend of faith backgrounds.
From its first location in a large Victorian mansion in downtown Indianapolis, to its present location on a 32 acre scenic campus on East Hanna Avenue, the Altenheim has provided care and exceptional service to families for generations.
Responsive to the physical, social, and spiritual needs of the older adult, the Altenheim offers individuals the opportunity and freedom to achieve their highest level of independence. 2 and 3 bedroom garden homes grace the spacious landscape. A variety of apartment floor plans with full amenities is available in the independent and assisted living complex. Should the need arise, skilled nursing and rehabilitation are available in the health care center. This continuum provides several options for those whose lifestyle needs change.
Much like the traditional
American quilt, The Altenheim Community has provided home-like comfort
to families for generations. A wide variety of apartment floor plans
and living accommodations afford residents their privacy and a place
to retreat. Planned social activities, transportation to community
events, gathering places throughout, and a garden walk offer residents
places and opportunities for renewal and recreation. As each
square contributes to the pattern of the quilt, each resident brings
a new dimension to the fabric of life at The Altenheim.
